Mission Valley's Future - The Choice is Yours
The November ballot will present San Diego voters with two competing visions for the future of the Mission Valley stadium and surrounding property. One would have the city turn over control of the site to a private investment group, for a mixed-use development. The other would turn it over to San Diego State University for creation of a campus annex plus some mixed-use development. Both include a stadium, but of considerably different kinds. Voters will have the choice of voting for one proposal or the other, or both, or neither.
This is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to rethink the future of this square mile of public land and how it fits into the overall future of Mission Valley The question is whether either proposal represents the vision that San Diegans have for this site, or whether we should reject both and take a different path.
C-3 has long been an advocate for public engagement in the planning process, and generally has opposed ballot box planning. This program will allow us to hear from proponents of both measures, and also to consider alternatives. A moderated panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
