Since 1961, Citizens Coordinate for Century 3 (C-3) has sought and advocated for the highest standards in urban design, community planning, and access to public open space. As a member-supported non-profit organization, we bring together residents and professionals to jointly craft solutions to the challenges we face in our city and region.

C-3 is dedicated to preserving and improving our region’s built and natural environments. Our objective is to influence critical policy, planning, and design through education, empowerment, and advocacy.

Citizens Coordinate for Century 3 is much more than an advocacy organization for proactive planning, good design, and citizen engagement – it’s a community.  In founding C-3 almost 60 years ago, architect Lloyd Ruocco’s vision was to bring together the City’s most creative minds from the arts, sciences, academia, and government to share ideas, learn new perspectives, and build fellowship around the idea of creating livable communities.

Since then, C-3 has been led by some of our region's most engaged and committed citizens. Including civic visionaries like Mike Stepner and Max Schmidt, to world renowned scientists like Roger Revelle, to community activists like Joyce Beers, our board of directors has been a community for progress.

If you care about the future of our built and natural environments and the health of our diverse communities, please consider applying to join our Board of Directors. Applicants across all disciplines and backgrounds are welcome!

In celebration of our 60th Anniversary, join us for “60 Years on the Edge,” a digital media experience that shares the personal stories of those at the forefront plus a look at the wins, loses, and wisdom gained along the way.

Sign up now to receive current updates, historic vignettes, C-3 Alumni interviews, and an invitation to the “60 Years on the Edge” Symposium.

C-3's Knowledge Action Networks (KANs) bring together local thought leaders from planning, design, policy, academia, community development, and more to address our region’s distinctive and pressing land use challenges.
